CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

After many months of hard work and planning, we are happy to announce that the FJC construction is complete!  Currently, finishing details are being completed and furniture is being delivered and assembled.  The site looks great!

Pictures of the construction process are available on our website through the link below: http://www.fjchc.org/public/construction.html

OPENING PREPARATIONS

With the building complete, FJC staff and Partner agency staff are now focusing on making sure everything is ready for the Soft Opening Date of September 18th, 2006.  The soft opening date is the date we will begin serving Guests at the FJC.  We will be advertising the Grand Opening and expect to become much busier after October 11th.

On-Site partner agencies are moving into the FJC this week.  This is a very exciting time as we see all of the hard work finally come together.

Please help FJC by spreading the word about the services available through the Family Justice Center.  Attached to this e-mail is a flyer about the FJC Soft Opening you can distribute to help get the word out.

Volunteer Needs:
The Family Justice Center has many exciting volunteer opportunities.  As a one-stop service center for those effected by domestic violence, there are a wide range of activities that will require the assistance of dedicated volunteers.  To assist our Guests in the best way possible, the FJC volunteer program is looking to schedule 6-8 volunteers per day to assist with hospitality, the Playroom, walking guests to their appointments throughout the building, administrative tasks, and special projects.  To become a volunteer, please contact our Jennifer Street, our Community Outreach Coordinator, at jstreet@fjchc.org or 813-935-2015.  Volunteer handbooks and applications are available on our website at http://www.fjchc.org/public/potentialvolunteers.html

FJC Training Academy:
In an effort to provide the best possible service to our guest, the FJC is providing ongoing training to staff, partner agencies, and the community.  The FJC Training Academy offers a variety of training courses and is continually growing.  Our next training event will be our 2-day domestic violence training on October 16th and 17th, which is titled “Nuts and Bolts:  The Basics of Domestic Violence Advocacy.”  The training will be offered from 8:30am-5pm at the Family Justice Center.  Also, on October 18th, the Training Academy will offer specific training for Volunteers and Chaplains.  For more information on upcoming training events, please view the Training Academy Bulletin through our website: http://www.fjchc.org/public/events.html To register for an upcoming training, please contact our Community Outreach Coordinator, Jennifer Street at jstreet@fjchc.org
